Linda Levine, LMFT

Clinical experience matters. So does how it is used.

Linda brings decades of clinical experience, direct communication, and relational and systemic thinking to supervision and mentoring.

Linda Levine, LMFT

“Good supervision has to make room for a therapist to say, ‘I'm not sure what to do here.’ My job is to make that candor useful.”

Linda Levine is a licensed marriage and family therapist, AAMFT Clinical Fellow, and AAMFT Approved Supervisor. Her clinical work has focused extensively on couples and relationships, giving her a strong grounding in relational patterns, family systems, conflict, attachment, and the therapist's use of self.

Linda also has experience supervising postgrad therapists seeking licensure. She works with therapists who want to strengthen their clinical judgment and with experienced clinicians learning to become supervisors themselves.

Her approach to supervision

Linda's approach is collaborative, but supervision is not simply consultation. A supervisor may need to evaluate, question, challenge, or give a clear direction. Linda believes those responsibilities should be transparent and that supervisees should be able to distinguish a suggestion from a requirement.

She addresses concerns directly rather than saving them for a later evaluation. Goals, progress, and documentation are reviewed throughout the relationship, with the larger aim of helping supervisees develop sound judgment and increasing confidence in their own professional reasoning.

AAMFT Approved Supervisor mentoring

Linda is a current AAMFT Approved Supervisor and Full Professional Member with Clinical Fellow designation who meets AAMFT's requirements to serve as an Approved Supervisor mentor, including more than 120 hours of post-designation supervision of MFT trainees.
