Frequently asked questions
What to know before beginning
Who is clinical supervision for?
Linda accepts both postgrad therapists seeking licensure and experienced therapists seeking continuing supervision or consultation. Sessions are individual and conducted online.
Will my supervision hours count toward licensure?
Whether hours count depends on the rules of the licensing authority that applies to you. Linda is licensed as an LMFT in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. Before beginning, you and Linda will identify the supervision and documentation you need. You remain responsible for confirming your jurisdiction's current requirements.
Can Linda mentor me toward the AAMFT Approved Supervisor designation?
Linda is a current AAMFT Approved Supervisor and Full Professional Member with Clinical Fellow designation who meets AAMFT's requirements to serve as an Approved Supervisor mentor, including more than 120 hours of post-designation supervision of MFT trainees. Mentoring may be provided remotely to eligible candidates in all states, subject to applicable state licensing and supervision requirements.
How are supervision hours documented?
Documentation requirements are reviewed before supervision begins and included in the written working agreement. The agreement identifies the required logs, forms, signatures, and review schedule, and the supervisee retains copies of completed documentation. You remain responsible for confirming that the documentation meets the requirements of your licensing authority or professional designation.
How will I know if Linda has concerns about my work?
You should not learn about a serious concern for the first time in a formal evaluation. Linda addresses concerns as they arise, explains what needs attention, and gives you an opportunity to respond and improve. Suggestions, concerns, and requirements are distinguished from one another.
What happens if we are not a good fit?
Supervision requires enough trust to discuss uncertainty and disagreement openly. If either of you concludes that the relationship is not productive, you can address that directly and make sure completed supervision and required documentation are handled appropriately.
Is mentoring limited to Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut?
Not necessarily. Linda may provide remote AAMFT Approved Supervisor mentoring to eligible candidates in all states. Both Linda and the candidate must make sure the arrangement complies with the applicable licensing and supervision requirements.
